Switch from Windows to a Macintosh
Why Switch to a Mac?
• Macs are easier, less frustrating and more pleasant to use.
• The organization and access to files and programs of all kinds is elegantly simple and transparent.
• New Macs with OSX and high speed internet connection (cable and DSL) are designed to fully integrate into your life in practical and useful ways. Music, photography, home videos, an easy dictionary and thesaurus, language translation tools, full iPod integration and more.
• Macs include lots of excellent software, not included on Windows machines, such as iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, Garage Band, AppleWorks and lots of little extras.
• The base price may seem higher, at first, but when you consider the software and all the extras that are included when you buy a Mac, such as the Airport Wireless card, a modem, the seamless networking software, you’ll find that by the time you have a windows machine configured the way you want it, there may be no difference in price.
Besides, just as some people would rather drive a BMW or other car that’s fancier, more reliable and more fun to drive than a Ford Focus, with the amount of time that you spend on your computer, it makes sense to purchase one that’s pleasant to use.
• Virus designers exploit Microsoft security flaws and have not been able to crack the Macintosh/Unix system since the advent of OS X. (I know of no viruses for the Mac since 1998.)
• Spyware does not work on a Mac and Pop-up windows are effectively blocked.
• MACS ARE NOW FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS COMPUTERS.
• Files can be seamlessly transferred back and forth between Macs and Windows computers.
• Macs network easily on Windows networks
• All common programs are written for both Windows and Macs.
• There are thousands of specialty programs written for Mac to run your restaurant, your dental practice or what ever your specialty is.
• There are a dozens of very sophisticated helper programs made specifically for Mac that sweeten your computer experience that are not available for Windows computers.
• Specialty programs that are made only for Windows, such as some financial programs, can be run on a Mac using Virtual PC.
• The Mac is a product of integrity. The hardware and operating system are designed and quality controlled by one organization. Industrial design is a passion at Apple. There is a difference. It is not commodity hardware, made with the cheapest bids for hard drives, fans and various other components slapped together by the cheapest contractor.
• Apple’s Tech Support is justifiably famous. All of their techs are in the United States or Canada and they speak English as a first language!
The bottom line is that Macs define ‘cool.’ They have integrity of design, functionality and support. You’ll love your new Mac.
Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal has been a recent proponent of the Mac. In a recent article on laptops, he said:
“Windows or Mac: Most laptop buyers will go for Windows machines. But Apple's iBooks, starting at $999 and 4.9 pounds, and its PowerBooks, starting at $1,499 and 4.6 pounds, are excellent choices. They are fast and elegant, with good battery life. And, like all Apples, they require little attention to security, because, so far, there hasn't been a virus or spyware problem on the Mac platform.”
